Lost keys · Spare keys · Key fob replacement · Chip-programmed keys · Push-start coding · All-keys-lost · Car lockout
We come to your Back Bay parking spot, your Dorchester driveway, your South End garage — programming car keys and key fobs for every make, from Toyota to Porsche, without the dealer trip.
Hourly rate from $100. Quote confirmed before any work starts. Most Boston jobs fall into one of three brackets:
Tow truck arrives at your spot, dealer estimates $500–$900 for a single replacement key — and that's before the towing fee. We come to your car at the curb, generate a new key on-site through the immobilizer module, and you drive straight away.
Tired of the “what if I lose this one” anxiety? We add a backup key without you ever leaving the office. Common for Back Bay residents who park on-street and BMW or Mercedes owners with single-key cars from the original purchase.
Key fob cracked, water-damaged, broken switchblade? Push-start smart key not detecting? We replace the shell, transfer or replace the chip, sync to your immobilizer — original-grade replacements that work with remote unlock and trunk release exactly like the original.
“Key not detected” message? Engine cranks but won't start? This is module-level coding — beyond what most locksmiths handle. We access immobilizer data through OEM tools, sync the transponder, and restart your day.
Most Boston locksmiths cover basic chip keys and remote duplication — that's where we differ. Boston ECU Lab uses OEM-grade tools (ISTA, Star Diagnosis, PIWIS, ODIS, IDS, GDS2, wiTECH) to handle exactly what locksmiths typically refer out to the dealer:
BMW CAS4 / FEM-BDC, Mercedes FBS4, Audi IMMO5 / Kessy, Porsche PIWIS-required. When no working key exists and the immobilizer is locked, locksmiths refer out — we read the EEPROM directly and generate a new key on-site.
Swapped your DME, FEM, EZS or steering-column lock and the car won't start? Modern modules need virgin coding tied to the VIN and immobilizer. Standard locksmith equipment doesn't do this — we use the same tools as the dealer.
“Key not detected”, intermittent no-start, smart key suddenly stopped pairing? This is data-level work inside the security module — not a key cutting job. We read fault data, sync the transponder, and restart your day.
Bought a used ECU, BCM or instrument cluster from the salvage yard? It still carries the original VIN and immobilizer data — needs cloning to your car's identity before it works. Specialty work most locksmiths and even general mechanics don't touch.
Quick turnaround, standard transponder & smart-key programming using factory-grade equipment — the Fords, Toyotas, Hondas and Subarus all over Boston's streets.

“Locked my keys inside the F-150 in front of my Dorchester triple-decker around 7 PM. Dealer wanted me to tow to Norwood next morning — quoted $650. Boston ECU Lab came to my street in 90 min, programmed a new key on the spot, and I drove home that night.”
“BMW dealer told me a spare key for my X3 would be $480 plus $50 parking and a half-day appointment. These guys met me at my Back Bay garage during my lunch break, programmed a CAS4 fob in 45 minutes, and I was back at my desk before anyone noticed.”
“Push-start smart key stopped working on my Camry — couldn't even unlock the doors. AAA quoted me a tow plus dealer programming, $700+. Boston ECU Lab diagnosed it as the immobilizer needing a re-sync, fixed it at my Mission Hill apartment for $150. No tow needed.”
