ADAS
CALIBRATION
BROOKLINE, MA

Street parking on Beacon, the C branch crawling down the median, one-ways barely wider than your mirrors — Brookline cars collect small repairs constantly. Each one can knock a safety camera or radar off its factory aim. We measure, recalibrate and verify, so the tech you paid for is actually protecting you.

ADAS CALIBRATION SERVICES

Three sensor families keep a modern car out of trouble — and every one of them can be knocked off spec by ordinary Brookline repairs. Here's what we bring back into line.

Brookline is hard on car bodies in a very specific way. Overnight street parking along Beacon and Harvard Street invites clipped mirrors and creased bumpers; the Green Line's C branch means constant merging across trolley tracks; and the one-ways around Coolidge Corner and Brookline Village force close passes a dozen times a day. None of it is dramatic — but mirrors, bumpers and grilles are exactly where modern cars keep their blind-spot radar, parking sensors and side cameras.

Windshields follow their own story here. A chip from Route 9 turns into a crack across the driver's view, a mobile installer replaces the glass at the curb, and the forward camera — the one running lane-keep and automatic emergency braking on almost every vehicle of the last several model years — quietly loses the aim it was calibrated to. There's no dashboard drama afterward. The systems keep "working." They're just working from a sensor that no longer points where the manufacturer set it.

What we offer Brookline is the missing last step: a formal, by-the-book recalibration. The car comes to our Massachusetts shop; the static procedure happens on a measured floor with the manufacturer's own target layouts; the dynamic portion happens on a road drive at prescribed speeds. Then every affected system has to pass a verification scan before we call the job done — and you keep the report that proves it.

Families around here tend to carry the whole household in one vehicle, which makes this less an electronics upgrade and more basic maintenance: the braking system that watches for a child stepping out between parked cars deserves the same rigor as the brakes themselves. If a glass company, body shop or tire shop touched your car recently, it's worth a five-minute call to find out whether calibration should have followed.

Front Camera Calibration
CAMERA
The glass-mounted camera behind your mirror steers lane-keep, reads signs and triggers emergency braking. Any windshield work resets its aim to "unknown" until a calibration says otherwise.
Windshield-replacement recalibration
Lane departure & lane keep
Automatic emergency braking
Traffic-sign & adaptive cruise
Radar & Sensor Calibration
RADAR
Radar for following distance sits behind the front trim; blind-spot units watch from the rear corners; parking sensors line the bumpers. Body repairs around any of them end with re-aiming.
Front radar (ACC / AEB)
Blind-spot & rear cross-traffic
Parking sensors
Post-collision recalibration
360° & Multi-Camera Calibration
360°
The top-down parking view is four cameras pretending to be one. Mirror damage, bumper swaps, a new liftgate or altered ride height pull the picture apart until each camera is realigned.
Surround-view / birds-eye
Rear & side cameras
Post-alignment recalibration
Night-vision where equipped

HOW IT WORKS

From repaired to road-safe in three steps.

01
BRING YOUR CAR IN
Call or send the form with your VIN and what was repaired. We identify every sensor the manufacturer says is affected and reserve the bay.
02
WE CALIBRATE TO SPEC
In the bay: targets measured out to the maker's diagram on a flat, verified floor. On the road: the prescribed dynamic drive where your model demands one. No shortcuts on either.
03
VERIFIED & DOCUMENTED
Verification is the deliverable — a post-scan with every system passing, faults cleared, and a printed calibration report that goes home with you.

WHEN DOES YOUR CAR NEED ADAS CALIBRATION?

Think of it this way: if the repair touched glass, body panels, suspension or wheels, a sensor probably moved with it. Common Brookline examples:

New windshield
The forward camera moved with it
Parked-car damage
Mirrors, bumpers — sensor territory
Grille or nose repair
The distance radar lives there
Alignment service
Sensor aim keys to wheel geometry
Springs, struts, lowering
Height change re-angles every camera
Replaced sensor or camera
Must be taught its position from zero
Door mirror replacement
Side cameras & blind-spot elements
Assist-system warning
Disabled until calibrated and verified

Brookline-area glass and body businesses: route your calibrations through us — the vehicle returns to your shop verified and documented, and the customer relationship stays entirely yours.

COMMON QUESTIONS

The glass company already replaced my windshield in Brookline. Why is calibration a separate job?
Because they're genuinely different trades. Fitting glass is bodywork; calibration is measurement — targets at exact distances, a level floor, brand-specific software walking the camera through its re-learn. Many installers don't carry that equipment, so the glass gets done and the calibration silently doesn't. We close that gap, whoever fitted the glass.
Which procedure applies to my car — static, dynamic, or both?
That's set by the manufacturer, not by us. Some cars re-learn entirely in front of stationary targets; others insist on a road segment at steady speed; a large group needs the static setup first and the drive to finish. We check the published routine for your exact VIN and run precisely what it lists.
My car lives on the street — can you do this at the curb?
No, and be wary of anyone who says yes. A curbside "calibration" can't control floor level, lighting or target distances, and those tolerances are the entire point. The car needs an hour or a few in our bay; the dynamic half is a drive we handle from there.
How much of my day does this take?
Usually not much of it. A camera-only job often wraps inside a couple of hours; stack radar and surround-view on top and it stretches, but same-day is the norm. We'll give you a realistic window once we see what the vehicle carries.
Am I looking at a big bill?
It scales with sensor count, not with mystery. One camera is the simple end; camera plus radars plus 360° is the involved end. You get one firm number before we touch the car — and when the calibration traces back to an insured glass or collision repair, it's frequently the claim that pays, not you.
I run a shop nearby — do you handle our overflow calibrations?
Yes, that's a standing arrangement we have with several Massachusetts shops. Send the car over after your repair; it returns calibrated, scanned before and after, with a report written for your claim file. Wholesale terms are on our For Shops page or one call away.
No warning light came on after the repair. Doesn't the car check itself?
It checks for electrical faults, not for aim. A camera can be bolted on securely, powered, communicating — and pointed a degree left of where it was calibrated. To the car that looks healthy. The mis-aim only shows up in how the systems behave at speed, which is exactly when you don't want to discover it.
Someone clipped my mirror while parked. Is that really a calibration event?
On a growing number of cars, yes. Door mirrors carry side cameras for surround-view and sometimes blind-spot elements; a replacement or even a hard knock changes their angle. If your car shows a stitched top-down parking view or warns you about overtaking traffic, the mirror is part of that sensor set and deserves a check.
What proof do I get that it was done right?
A calibration report listing each procedure performed and its result, plus the pre- and post-scans showing fault status before and after. It's the difference between "the light went off" and documented evidence — insurers, and the next owner of the car, both appreciate the second kind.
My car isn't a common brand. Can you still calibrate it?
Almost certainly. We hold targets and current procedures across domestic, Asian and European lines alike — the everyday brands and the less common ones. If you're unsure, send the VIN; we'll confirm coverage before you drive over.
