ADAS
CALIBRATION
NEWTON, MA

Windshield swapped, alignment done, or collision damage repaired on your Newton car? The cameras and radar behind lane-keep, automatic braking and adaptive cruise are off their factory aim until someone recalibrates them properly. That's the job we do — static and dynamic, to each manufacturer's own procedure, on every make.

ADAS CALIBRATION SERVICES

Lane-keep, adaptive cruise, automatic braking and blind-spot monitoring all depend on sensors aimed to fractions of a degree. After repair work in Newton, we re-establish that aim to the factory's figures.

Newton drivers put real miles on their cars — the daily grind down Route 9, the Mass Pike on-ramp at Newton Corner, Route 128 through the western edge. Winter sand and highway debris mean cracked windshields are routine here, and on almost anything built since 2018 — a RAV4 from Newtonville, an F-150 from West Newton, a 3 Series from Chestnut Hill — the forward-facing camera that runs lane-keep and automatic emergency braking is mounted to that glass. Replace the windshield and the camera has moved. It has to be recalibrated to the manufacturer's spec.

Here's the gap we see from Newton all the time: a mobile glass company swaps the windshield in your driveway in Newton Centre or Auburndale, hands you the keys, and never mentions calibration — or says the car "doesn't need it." There's usually no warning light. But the camera is aiming somewhere the manufacturer never intended, and that's what your emergency braking now trusts. We do calibration-only jobs every week: bring the car to our shop after any glass work, we run the static and dynamic procedures the manufacturer requires, verify every system passes, and hand you a documented calibration report.

We also work behind the scenes for Newton's repair ecosystem. Glass installers, body shops and collision centers that don't keep calibration equipment in-house sublet that step to us — the shop keeps the customer, we return the car calibrated with pre/post scans and the report their claim file needs.

Front Camera Calibration
CAMERA
Mounted against the windshield, the forward camera makes the calls for lane assist, sign recognition and emergency braking. Replacing that glass displaces the camera — recalibration is the required follow-up.
Windshield-replacement recalibration
Lane departure & lane keep
Automatic emergency braking
Traffic-sign & adaptive cruise
Radar & Sensor Calibration
RADAR
The cruise-control radar behind the front fascia, blind-spot monitors at the rear corners and the parking-sensor ring all lose their aim in collisions and bumper work. We measure and restore each.
Front radar (ACC / AEB)
Blind-spot & rear cross-traffic
Parking sensors
Post-collision recalibration
360° & Multi-Camera Calibration
360°
Overhead-view and multi-camera setups — side, rear and night-vision units — knocked out of register by mirror swaps, panel work or a change in stance, brought back to one true picture.
Surround-view / birds-eye
Rear & side cameras
Post-alignment recalibration
Night-vision where equipped

HOW IT WORKS

From repaired to road-safe in three steps.

Factory target geometry on a verified-level floor for the static portion; the specified road drive to finish where your model requires it. Every value set to spec, not eyeballed.
03
VERIFIED & DOCUMENTED
Before handover: full-system scan, every calibrated module passing, codes cleared, written report in your hand. The systems work as designed — provably.

WHEN DOES YOUR CAR NEED ADAS CALIBRATION?

Calibration follows any job that shifts a sensor or what it's mounted to. From Newton, these are the repairs that bring cars through our door:

Windshield R&R
Camera aim left with the old glass
Accident repair
Sensors and brackets in the crumple path
Front fascia work
Cruise radar mounts behind it
Four-wheel alignment
Camera references thrust angle
Suspension refresh
New stance, new sensor angles
Camera / radar replaced
Unit must learn its position
Mirror replacement
Side-view camera geometry
"Assist unavailable" alert
System idled pending re-aim

Newton glass and collision businesses: hand the calibration step to us — vehicle back to you scanned, verified and documented, customer relationship untouched.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Do I really need ADAS calibration after a windshield replacement in Newton?
If the car has lane-keep or automatic braking — effectively everything recent — then yes. Those features watch the road through a camera mounted to the very glass that was just changed. Its aim shifted with the replacement, and only the manufacturer's calibration procedure sets it right. A missing dash warning doesn't mean it's fine; mis-aim rarely triggers one.
What's involved in static and dynamic calibration?
Two stages, two references. In the shop, the car faces official target boards set out at exact heights and distances on a level floor — that's static. On the road, a drive at specified speeds lets the electronics confirm the aim against real lane paint — that's dynamic. Which stages your car needs is written in its service data; many need both, in order.
You're mobile for other services — why not for calibration in Newton?
Fair question, since we do program keys and modules on-site. Calibration is the exception: the static stage depends on floor flatness, lighting control and target distances measured to tight tolerance. A driveway can't offer that, so this one service runs from our shop — and the road-drive stage follows directly from there.
What's the time commitment?
Under a day, almost always. Simple camera jobs can be done over a long lunch; cars carrying camera, radar and surround-view together need the extra bay hours. We size it honestly when you book so you can plan the day.
What will ADAS calibration cost me in Newton?
The quote depends on the sensor list — one camera versus a full suite — and on whether your model's procedure includes the drive stage. It's a firm number before work starts, never a surprise after. And where a glass or collision claim caused the need, the calibration typically joins that claim.
Will the insurance company accept your paperwork?
That's what it's designed for. You receive the pre-repair scan, the post-calibration scan and a report of procedures performed — the documentation set adjusters ask for on glass and collision files. Whether your specific policy covers it is between you and the policy, but the evidence will be in order.
Can you finish a job my Newton shop started?
Yes — repair there, calibrate here is a standard arrangement. We take the vehicle after the glass or body work, run every calibration the repair made necessary, verify by scan and return it documented. Shops keep their customer; drivers get a finished, provable job.
My windshield was replaced at my home in Newton and the glass company never calibrated the camera. What now?
That's the most common job we get from Newton. Mobile glass replacement is convenient, but static calibration can't be done in a driveway — it needs OEM-spec targets on a level floor. Bring the car to our shop, we run the full static and/or dynamic procedure the manufacturer requires and give you a documented report. You don't need to go back to the glass company.
Do you take sublet ADAS calibration from Newton glass and body shops?
Yes. Several shops send us their calibration work — you keep the customer and the repair, we handle the calibration and return the vehicle with pre/post scans and a documented report for the claim. See our For Shops page or call for wholesale terms.
My dash shows "Pre-Collision System Unavailable" after bodywork — is that a calibration issue?
Very often, yes. Bumper, grille, radar-bracket or camera work can leave a driver-assist system uncalibrated or blocked, and the car disables it. We start with a full scan, calibrate the affected camera or radar to the manufacturer's procedure, then verify the system passes and the message clears.
